PwC Remote Work Policy: All You Need To Know Before Applying

PricewaterhouseCoopers is a multinational network of firms operating under the PwC brand. The firm was founded in 1988 and is the second-largest service network in the world. PwC currently dominates the financial sector.

Its workforce grew by over 90,000 at the end of 2021 and had gross revenue of $45 billion by the year-end of June 2021. They are a powerhouse and one of the Big Four accounting firms alongside EY, Deloitte, and KPMG.

In 2021, PwC let 40,000 of their U.S employees work from anywhere in the country. Let’s see exactly what PwC remote work offers its employees.

Highlights Of PWC Remote Work Policy

As mentioned above, PwC is a massive firm that continues to grow. According to PwC, they are shaping the workforce of the future with a flexible view of the world of work. Things are changing with traditional work environments and to stay ahead, they need to think ahead.

PwC calls this a once-in-a-generation opportunity to change how work is viewed and to empower employees with choices regarding their time. They want to reshape the workforce and create a workplace that actually works.

PwC believes that a workforce that is empowered will be more productive. So, to create a great company culture, they aim to nurture well-being, adaptability, and new skill sets.

U.S Employees Can Choose Remote Work

In 2021, PwC announced a work-from-home policy for 40,000 of their employees. This policy lets their U.S employees work remotely from anywhere in the country.

There is, however, a catch. PwC implements location-based pay. If one of their employees decides to move to a place with a lower cost of living, they will receive a pay cut.

This isn’t unusual, though, for a work-from-home policy. Many big corporations, including Google and Twitter, have implemented location-based pay cuts too.

Client-facing employees will also be required to get vaccinated and come to the office for key occasions like team meetings while still following Covid-19 safety protocols.

The PwC remote work policy is only valid inside the United States. There is currently no international remote work option.

Flexible Work Benefits

PwC’s remote work policy won’t just benefit new hires but also employees working in client services and consistently achieving their deliverables.

Selected employees will have two weeks to notify their superiors of their intentions to work remotely. What makes this new remote work policy so flexible is the fact that these employees can always revert back to working full-time out of PwC’s offices should their lifestyle or work preferences change in the future.

Generous Stipends for Caregivers

In lieu of the challenges working women and caregivers faced during the pandemic, PwC’s remote work policy goes the extra mile with its generous compensations. For example, PwC employees currently supporting children, spouses, and elderly parents can now enjoy a 20% increase in leave-of-absence pay for up to six months as well as a $2,000 stipend.

Employee Reviews Of PwC Remote Work

PwC has a score of 3.9 out of 5 on Glassdoor, with over 55,000 reviews. With so many reviews, it’s quite a good score.

The highlights from most employees were a supportive work environment, inclusivity, and the ability to learn new things. PwC encourages employees to learn new skills and deepen their knowledge of their current skill sets as demonstrated by the implementation of leadership workshops geared toward providing equitable training and support for their virtual teams.

There are quite a few areas employees wish PwC would improve on though. The biggest issues were a lack of challenging or energizing work challenges and a feeling of fulfillment from work. Another issue that pops up a lot in reviews is a lack of work-life balance.

There is also a lot of stress because of how big PwC is. It’s a high-pressure work environment with working hours frequently extending to 12- to 16-hour days at the end of the financial year.

All that being said, most reviewers mention this as a great learning experience that helped further their careers.

PwC Remote Work In The News

Because of the PwC remote work policy, other big corporations are facing a bit of pressure to implement their own work-from-home policies. The workforce is becoming more and more competitive, not just for prospective employees but also for companies.

Talented and experienced individuals favor top companies with remote work options and progressive work environments. This has led to a domino effect as other big companies race to create better work environments that are more flexible.

The age of traditional work died during the Covid-19 pandemic. And with the benefits that remote work offers, it doesn’t seem to be coming back.

Conclusion

PwC offers remote work to U.S employees with a fair policy. As more people become interested in working for remote companies. PwC sees the value in providing a work-from-home policy that gives their employees more flexibility. They see the value that a happy employee has on company health.

Many people who worked for PwC have said working there has been a great learning experience that gave them the opportunity to boost their careers.
